The Indian Army is extending its community outreach in Jammu & Kashmir by spearheading various healthcare initiatives, notably in remote and border areas. These efforts aim to support government services, offering quality care to underserved populations.
A significant example of this initiative is the comprehensive medical camp conducted in Uri, which benefited over 1,300 villagers with specialist consultations. This is part of a wider strategy to enhance healthcare access alongside the Army's security duties. Recently, in preparation for Naushera Day 2026, the Army, in collaboration with Government Medical College, Rajouri, held a Multi-Speciality Medical Camp in Naushera. Here, free quality healthcare was provided to residents and those from nearby areas.
Fields like medicine, surgery, gynaecology, and orthopaedics were covered, offering free consultations, check-ups, diagnostics, and medical advice. Notably, 45 disabled individuals received prosthetic limbs through a partnership with Kiwanis International. Dr. Shubham Dutt from Government Medical College Rajouri highlighted the camp's impact on the border community, underlining the importance of preventive care and awareness, particularly on cervical cancer coinciding with World Cancer Day.
