In a landmark shift within the civil aviation sector, women continue to make significant progress, aided by a commitment to equality and support from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). As the world marks International Women's Day 2026, industry leaders highlight the crucial steps taken towards gender parity.
Deputy Director of DGCA, Ekta Agrawal, conveyed her satisfaction with the inclusive environment, noting the organization's evolution from having scarcely any female presence. Agrawal emphasized the pivotal role of family support for women officers and stressed that the agency maintains a discrimination-free workplace.
Echoing these sentiments, Chief Flight Operations Inspector Shweta Singh elaborated on the organization's mentoring initiatives. Singh highlighted senior mentors' focus on safety and professional growth, enhancing the aviation environment to support women's roles. DGCA DG Faiz Ahmed Kidwai stated that women now hold top ranks, and called for increased participation through newly launched internship programs.
