A special NIA court at Patiala House has extended the judicial custody of seven individuals accused in the Red Fort blast case for an additional 15 days. Among those detained are Dr. Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Jasir Bilal Wani, Dr. Muzammil, Yasir Ahmed Dar, and Nasir Bilal Malla. They were presented before the court via video conferencing after their previous custody expired. Special Judge Pitambar Dutt authorized the extension as the investigation continues.
The last hearing, on March 11, revealed that investigative procedures were hampered by protests supporting Ayatollah Ali Khemenei in Jammu and Kashmir. Two other accused, Tufail Ahmed Bhat and Zamir Ahmed Ahangar, remain in NIA custody for further questioning. The court has granted a 45-day extension to the investigation period.
The case stems from a high-intensity blast near the Red Fort on November 11, 2025. The National Investigation Agency first detained Aamir Rashid Mir on November 16, followed by other suspects on various dates. Recently, the NIA arrested two individuals believed to be over-ground workers for the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind terror outfit, accused of supplying weapons to those involved in the blast. The NIA, collaborating with police forces in J-K and Haryana, has been meticulously piecing together evidence to uncover the full scope of the conspiracy.
