In a bid to significantly enhance farmers' income, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has underscored the importance of crop diversification and the expansion of horticulture. During a review meeting with agriculture officials, Saini instructed the development of cluster farming for fruits like strawberries, lemons, and dragon fruit, tailored to regional soil and climate conditions.
Saini emphasized the integration of traditional and high-value fruit cultivation, noting the lucrative market demand. By linking farmers with vital resources such as planting materials and marketing channels, he aims for substantial income growth. Additionally, he advocated for tissue culture techniques across various crops to leverage each district's agricultural potential.
The Chief Minister also urged the innovation of climate-resilient seeds and encouraged research using land from universities and panchayats. For the environmental campaign, he called for eucalyptus plantations to reclaim waterlogged lands. To further natural farming, clusters will receive infrastructural support and compensation for initial yield declines, aiming to foster sustainable farming across Haryana.
