Global Food Prices Surge to New Highs in March
World food prices increased in March, reaching their highest since December according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. The FAO Food Price Index recorded a 2.4% rise. Additionally, the FAO revised its global cereal production forecast for 2025 upward to a record 3.036 billion metric tons, a 5.8% year-on-year increase.

World food prices surged in March to reach their highest level since December, as revealed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization on Friday.
The FAO Food Price Index, which monitors price changes in a basket of globally traded food commodities, rose by 2.4% in March, averaging 128.5 points compared to the revised level of February.
In a different report, the FAO adjusted its global cereal production forecast for 2025 upwards to a record-breaking 3.036 billion metric tons, representing a 5.8% increase from the previous year.
