In a decisive move to protect celebrity rights, the Delhi High Court has mandated immediate action against the unauthorized use of actor Mohanlal's name, image, and other personal attributes online. The Court's order requires the removal of such content within 36 hours to prevent further violation of personality rights.

The Court's ex parte ad interim injunction targets numerous defendants, including e-commerce sites and social media users, forbidding them from exploiting the actor's likeness for gain. This directive extends to prohibiting the sale of merchandise displaying Mohanlal's identity, which could mistakenly suggest his endorsement.

The Court has tasked intermediary platforms like Meta and Google with removing identified content quickly if users fail to comply, and has ordered these platforms to provide user information to aid enforcement. This action underscores the significance of protecting celebrity identity in the digital age.
