Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called on Congress leader Pawan Khera to comply with legal procedures and present himself in Guwahati. The request follows a Supreme Court ruling that denied Khera an extension of his transit anticipatory bail in a case linked to allegations involving Sarma's wife.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed Khera's plea to prolong his bail initially granted by the Telangana High Court. The short-term bail had been issued to facilitate Khera's approach to any jurisdictional court in Assam concerning charges that he falsely alleged Chief Minister Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, held multiple passports and undisclosed assets.

The Sarma family has refuted these claims, attributing the accusations to AI-generated misinformation spread by Pakistani social media groups. In other news, Sarma commented on the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections, predicting significant political changes.
