Andhra Pradesh is grappling with a fuel crisis that led to the closure of over 400 petrol stations. Panic buying driven by fear of shortages impacted consumers statewide, prompting Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to take immediate action.
Naidu held a teleconference with officials and oil company representatives to address the situation. He ordered the establishment of a task force to monitor fuel supply and distribution. Emphasizing swift corrective measures, he demanded seamless fuel supply by Monday and cautioned against any delays that inconvenience the public.
The surge in demand was attributed to commercial consumers turning to retail outlets, resulting in a significant increase in petrol and diesel sales. Troubles intensified due to reduced supplies from private suppliers and tighter credit conditions from oil companies. Naidu warned oil firms against actions causing public distress and reiterated the necessity for preventive measures and responsible decisions.
