Bamboo artisans from Tripura's Gomati district, including Bijay Sutradhar, have expressed profound gratitude after being acknowledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio program. The nationwide broadcast praised their craft and contribution to the flourishing bamboo sector.
Sharing his elation, Sutradhar remarked, 'The Prime Minister’s praise has brought immense joy to my village and motivated us to continue our work.' He acknowledged the support from the Tripura Bamboo Mission, which facilitated the establishment of his factory, highlighting their pivotal role in his success.
Prime Minister Modi underscored the importance of the bamboo sector, transformed significantly after legislative changes in 2017 redefined bamboo, boosting employment and innovation. Fellow artisan Pradeep Chakraborty echoed Sutradhar's sentiments, noting the community pride and the economic opportunities that have emerged following their recognition.
