Eco-Library Launches Amid Patnitop's Scenic Forests

In a bid to blend education with eco-tourism, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Sargun Shukla, inaugurated the 'Van Pustakalya' at the Jagruti Kendra in Patnitop. This new 'Forest Library' initiative was unveiled in the presence of prominent environmental officials including the Conservator of Forests for the Chenab Circle, Arshdeep Singh, and DFO Batote, Satyendra Maurya.
The library serves as a hub for knowledge, strategically located amidst Patnitop's picturesque landscape, aiming to connect both children and tourists with the wonders of nature. DIG Shukla emphasized the importance of this initiative as a step towards building environmental awareness and cultivating a reading culture. She expressed satisfaction over the police department's partnership with the forest authorities to engage young minds.
Plans to develop trekking trails and camping sites are underway, designed to guide the youth towards constructive outdoor activities. Conservator Arshdeep Singh elaborated on the inclusive library's broader mission to foster a love for reading in natural settings. The library's diverse collection includes books on wildlife, personality development, and forest-related topics for all age groups.
