Former IRS officer Ashok Agarwal is pushing for a tougher sentence for two law enforcement officers involved in an assault case. The accused, CBI Joint Director Ramneesh and retired ACP VK Pandey, were sentenced to three months in prison by the Tis Hazari Court in April, following a conviction on April 18, 2026.

Agarwal's appeal, presented before Additional Sessions Judge Rajinder Kumar, calls for a heftier penalty, including an enhancement of the Rs one lakh compensation to Rs one crore. He contends that the sentences under Sections 323, 427, and 448 IPC should run consecutively.

The case surrounds an incident from October 19, 2000, where it's alleged state power was abused, leading to the unlawful arrest and mistreatment of Agarwal and his family. He argues that the original sentence does not address the gravity of the offense, asserting it as a 'premeditated abuse of power' by senior officers, and seeks additional departmental actions against those involved.
