Amid the ongoing unrest in West Bengal, a police team came under fire during a patrol in the Bamangheri area, as confirmed by locals. The incident, which also involved central forces, left three police personnel and two central forces members injured. They were later transferred to hospitals in Kolkata for treatment.
Authorities discovered a bag filled with bombs at the scene, raising further concerns. A local resident reported witnessing a group of boys fleeing the area while hiding with her family. She described police breaking into their home, leading to several family members' temporary custody.
Accusations emerged of police targeting five tribal and four Muslim community members during the incident. This escalation happens amid directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to local authorities, demanding zero tolerance for post-poll violence throughout the state.
