The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cracked down on a bribery case involving Rs 20 Lakh, arresting three individuals, including two private middlemen. The action pertains to allegations of illegal gratification demanded and accepted allegedly on behalf of officials in the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.

Following a complaint from a Punjab State Tax Officer, the CBI Court has placed Raghav Goyal and his father, Vikas Goyal, under three days' custody, while Ankit Badhwa is in judicial custody. The accused reportedly sought illegal payment to facilitate the closure of a complaint against the tax officer at the Punjab Vigilance Office.

In a dramatic operation on May 11 in Chandigarh, Ankit Wadhwa was apprehended while allegedly accepting bribes on behalf of the accused. Meanwhile, detailed investigations reveal the involvement of senior vigilance officials, while absconding suspect O.P Rana remains at large. Efforts are underway to uncover the extent of the corruption network.
