The Students' Federation of India (SFI) spearheaded a major protest in the capital on Tuesday, calling for the dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA) after the NEET-UG 2026 exam was canceled amid allegations of paper leaks. Former JNUSU president, Aishe Ghosh, advocated for NTA's removal, citing ongoing irregularities as the driving force behind the protest.
Ghosh emphasized the recurring malpractice issues surrounding NEET exams conducted by the NTA, urging governmental action. The protests reached boiling point as clashes erupted with police forces trying to maintain capital city order. Demonstrators rallied with slogans and vigorous chants of "Paper leak nhi chalega" resonating through the protest's path.
Mirroring events in Delhi, SFI also led a demonstration in Thiruvananthapuram. Despite hefty police presence, protestors breached barricades and stormed the Comptroller and Auditor General office compound. Notably, NSUI activists staged a parallel protest in Bhopal. Upon cancelling the NEET-UG exam, the Government cited serious paper leak concerns and involvement of law agencies for an in-depth probe. The controversy sparked political backlash as Congress’s Sachin Pilot demanded those responsible under judicial review and called for the Education Minister's resignation.
