Andhra Pradesh Special Chief Secretary Energy K Vijayanand on Wednesday directed officials to expedite feeder solarisation works under the PM-KUSUM scheme and complete all ongoing projects by December.

Reviewing the status of feeder-level solarisation works at the Secretariat, the special Chief Secretary stressed the need for quicker progress in land allocation, site development and equipment supply to prevent any delay in project completion.

''Officials should accelerate feeder-level solarisation works under the PM-KUSUM scheme and ensure all ongoing projects are completed within the December deadline,'' said Vijayanand in an official press release.

He noted that timely completion of the projects is crucial to secure central financial assistance and improve reliable quality power supply to the agriculture sector.

Vijayanand said the PM-KUSUM Component-C programme is aimed at expanding solar-based daytime electricity supply for agriculture and reducing pressure on conventional energy resources.

According to officials, a total of 228 feeder-level solar projects with an installed capacity of 1,162.8 MW are currently being taken up across Andhra Pradesh under different Distribution Company (DISCOM) jurisdictions.

The special chief secretary reviewed progress in Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL), Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL), Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) and Kuppam Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) regions.

Officials apprised Vijayanand of the completion of land acquisition for most projects in several districts, while grading, piling and foundation works are progressing simultaneously at multiple sites.

He directed officials to closely monitor weekly targets, clear pending approvals without delay and improve coordination with developers to ensure uninterrupted progress of works.

He noted that feeder solarisation projects would help improve grid reliability, lower dependence on traditional power procurement and support Andhra Pradesh's clean energy goals in the long run.
