Sikkim Achieves Full Literacy: A Landmark in Education
Sikkim has been declared a fully literate state under the ULLAS initiative. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia hailed this milestone, emphasizing its alignment with Prime Minister Modi's vision for a developed Northeast. The state is set to enhance its organic economy with significant investment in infrastructure and agriculture.

Sikkim has officially been recognized as a fully literate state through the ULLAS initiative, marking a significant achievement in its educational progression. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia congratulated the state, acknowledging the accomplishment as a historic milestone.
On Thursday, Scindia announced via a social media post, 'Saakshar Sikkim is now a reality! This historic moment signifies the state’s full literacy under ULLAS.' As the Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DONER), he emphasized that education serves as the cornerstone of a powerful and developed region, exemplified by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Viksit North East.
In a further statement aligning with the Prime Minister's commitment, Scindia reiterated the focus on Sikkim's development. During the Sikkim Statehood Day celebrations on May 16, he expressed his best wishes, underscoring Modi's dedication to the state’s progress. The ambitious 360 crore Mission, backed by the Ministry of DONER, aims to elevate Sikkim to a globally integrated premium organic economy.
This mission is designed to boost farmer incomes, enhance FPOs, and expand the state’s cold-chain and logistics networks, benefiting over 66,000 farming families statewide.
