The Congress party announced a 'Satyagraha' protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Friday, aimed at the Election Commission of India (ECI) following the disqualification of Meenakshi Natarajan's Rajya Sabha election nomination.
This protest was sparked by the rejection of Natarajan's nomination papers due to alleged discrepancies in her election affidavit. The move has drawn criticism and accusations of bias from Congress, who maintain that the process has been unfair. Earlier in the week, a delegation of ten Congress members approached the Chief Election Commissioner to express their grievances.
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has strongly criticized both the Election Commission and the BJP. He referred to a so-called 'jugalbandi' between the two, arguing that the Rajya Sabha elections were predetermined due to what he describes as 'seat chori.' Gandhi expressed his concerns on social media while highlighting the differences in treatment of Congress and BJP candidates.
