Inaugural Flight from Noida Airport: Farmers Take to the Skies

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu celebrated the first commercial flight from Noida International Airport, honoring farmers who donated land for its construction. The airport is poised to be a key aviation hub, enhancing local and international travel. A special meeting with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister marked the event.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Monday engaged with farmers and their families participating in the inaugural commercial flight from Noida International Airport, acknowledging their critical role in the airport's development. The engagement followed the formal commencement of commercial flight operations at the new aviation hub.

Minister Naidu stated that the farmers, who generously contributed land for the airport, will embark on this inaugural flight to Lucknow. He noted, 'This will become a hub for both domestic and international operations, with Jewar Airport on track to become one of Asia's largest airports.' He detailed the expansion, projecting an eventual capacity of 7 crore passengers annually.

In what he termed a 'historic milestone,' Naidu commended the event as joyous, emphasizing the special arrangements made for 170 farmers, including a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. The first flights to four destinations began operations from Noida, inaugurating an airport poised to rank among India's top five.

Led by Jewar legislator Dhirendra Singh, the farmers will express gratitude to CM Adityanath in Lucknow for his support in the state's development and the airport's establishment, boosting regional connectivity and economy. The inaugural IndiGo flight, 6E-2278, traveled from Lucknow to Bengaluru after reaching Jewar.

Noida International Airport, a key international gateway for the NCR, marks a significant enhancement in India's airport infrastructure, complementing Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Developed as one of India's largest greenfield projects, the airport incorporates advanced systems for round-the-clock operations under a Public-Private Partnership, with an investment of around Rs 11,200 crore.
