In an aggressive move against child labor, Gujarat Police have successfully rescued 84 minors from exploitative working environments through their 'Operation Childhood Freedom' initiative. In merely two weeks, authorities have registered 16 cases and charged 26 individuals as part of this ambitious month-long mission.
Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the campaign aims to ensure that 'every child is in school, no child is at work.' Police operations have been conducted across various venues like textile units, hotels, and small industries where illegal child labor was detected.
'Operation Childhood Freedom' is not just enforcement-focused but also aims at the rehabilitation of these rescued children. Authorities are planning to intensify inspection efforts and carry out intelligence-led operations in collaboration with educational and child welfare agencies.
