Eight dead,13 injured by lightning in Bihar's Navada - report

There are eight individuals dead and 13 injured by the lightning in Navada district of Bihar, according to media reports. The incident has reportedly occured in Navada's Dhanpur village where the children were playing under a tree.

The Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar has reportedly expressed his condolences and has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh each to the victims' kin.

The Member of Parliament from Begusarai and Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries, Shandilya Giriraj Singh has tweeted about the incident saying that he is shocked at the lightning incident in Navada adding that nine persons from Dalit families have died in the incident and 13 are seriously injured. He said he prays to Mahadev to grant a speedy recovery to the wounded and patience to families of the dead.
