Two days ago heavy rains caused flash floods in Thane district, where hundreds of marooned people were rescued from a train and other places. Kolhapur-bound Mahalaxmi Express was stuck near Vangani in Thane district due to flooding on tracks following heavy rains. More than a thousand passengers were on board who were rescued in a multi-agency operation nearly after 17 hours. The Indian Air Force also airlifted over 120 people stuck in different parts of Thane district.
