A Royal Navy patrol ship has been to intercept Russian warship in the English Channel, according to Daily Star. HMS Forth that returned from Gibraltar was deployed to shadow the Russian vessel Vasily Bykov. The Russian vessel that took part in Navy Day celebration in St Petersburg was sailing through the North Sea.

Russian vessels regularly pass through the English Channel, and they are always monitored by the Royal Navy. The Vasily Bykov was previously shadowed by HMS Forth through British waters in June.

HMS Forth will now be preparing for her upcoming deployment to the Falkland Islands at the end of this year to replace HMS Clyde as the islands’ permanent naval guardian. HMS Forth is the first of five new Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV). She entered service in 2018, becoming the eyes and ears of the Royal Navy, both at home and abroad.
