The headquarters of USA Today has been evacuated after police confirmed a report of a man with a weapon at the building in suburban Washington, D.C., the newspaper announced on its official Twitter account. "Alarm sounded at the building as police squad converged on the scene," USA Today reported. "Law enforcement officers with rifles and body armor were patrolling the area and a helicopter hovered overhead.

A reporter at USA Today posted the photo of the people being evacuated from the building on his official Twitter account.

The Fairfax County Police tweeted that they are responding to reports of a man with a weapon at the Gannett Building located at 7950 Jones Branch Drive in McLean. The police advised avoiding the area.

The headquarters building houses non-newspaper offices. Hundreds of office workers were herded outside by police. There are reports of any injuries yet. This comes just a few days after two mass shootings in the U.S. that left more than 30 people dead.
