There was a large police presence outside the Stephenson High School in Dekalb County blocking the roads. Multiple police cars responded to the school early Tuesday morning after a student claimed that she saw another student carrying a shotgun on the bus. The school which is located on Stephenson Road in Stone Mountain was kept on lockdown.

The police swept through the school out of an abundance of caution. However, the search came out to be empty and the police could not find any student carrying a weapon.

Students have been allowed to reenter the building and the normal schedule is resuming. Traffic outside the school has resumed after roads were blocked until about 10:30 a.m.

It has been reported that all the students and teachers are safe, the school has been checked properly and has been declared safe. The police will remain on the campus.

The lack of communication initially sent a panic attack to the parents of the students.
