Tulsi Gabbard will not run as an independent candidate for the US Presidential elections if she loses Democratic nomination, CNN Chief National Security Correspondent Jim Sciutto said in a tweet.
The 2020 presidential campaign of Tulsi Gabbard began on January 11, 2019. If Gabbard were to win, she would become the first female, Hindu, and Samoan president in American history, and would be the youngest person to ever hold the office at the age of 39.
A military combat veteran, Gabbard is currently serving as the US Representative for Hawaii's second congressional district. Elected in 2012, she became the first Samoan American and the first Hindu member of the United States Congress.
Gabbard served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 2002 to 2004. When she was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives at age 21, she was the youngest woman to be elected to a US state legislature.
