A woman from Mumbai with travel history to Dubai, undergoing treatment at civic-run Kasturba Hospital since last week, has tested negative for the novel coronavirus, a top Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said on Tuesday. Suresh Kakani, additional municipal commissioner, said the woman, a resident of suburban Andheri, had been undergoing treatment since the past 4-5 days at Kasturba Hospital.
She has tested negative for the coronavirus (Covid-19) but will undergo medical test again, he said. "We are going to keep her for 24 hours in quarantine and if she tested negative again, then discharge protocols will be activated," said Kakani.
Speaking about recovery of patients, he said an individual's will power is an important factor in coming out of the infection. According to BMC officials, the woman and her husband were part of a 40-member group undergoing treatment at the hospital since last week after returning from a Dubai tour.
They said the number of coronavirus positive cases in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) now stood at 15. These included a three-year-old girl from Kalyan in Thane district. The MMR comprises Mumbai and parts of adjoining districts of Thane, Palghar and Raigad.
Kakani said so far 540 people had been admitted for possible coronavirus infection in Mumbai and 452 of them tested negative for the disease..
