Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck says he was sore after his first training camp practices since surgery on a torn labrum in January 2017.

But it's a good sore.

"No pain," Luck told the media Sunday at training camp in Westfield, Ind. "Soreness, tiredness, for sure, and stresses on my arm that are different. (There are) stresses, shoot, on everybody's body at this camp that is different."

He said a few football moves he made "looked pretty silly on the film" but is happy to be on the field again.

"It was fun," he said, "being able to focus on getting better at practice, not just getting through practice and surviving -- surviving to the next one."

Luck said he is focusing on getting his rhythm back, working on timing in handoffs and with receivers, for example. He is being limited in what he can do in practice, however, at this point, and he admitted to having some jitters on his first day back Thursday. He missed the entire 2017 season.

He is working now to "keep getting better. That really is the name of the game," said Luck, who will turn 29 on Sept. 12.

After two practices, he is "very happy" with his progress and that his throwing right shoulder is "responding well," he said. He was scheduled to practice on Sunday night after not throwing Saturday.

He clearly sounded as if he was enjoying the competitive aspect of camp again. After shaking off the rust on Thursday, he said "things seemed to calm down and slow down a bit" on Friday.

"There is a lot to think about as a quarterback," Luck said. "All those things, trying to sort of keep a calm mind and translate the technique I want to use in team situations."

Colts coach Frank Reich is expected to continue to be cautious with Luck throughout camp, but Luck is scheduled to start their preseason opener against Seattle on Aug. 9.
