Russia's new coronavirus cases surge to record high

Russia's daily coronavirus cases surged to an all-time high on Friday, with authorities reporting 12,126 new infections, pushing the overall total to 1,272,238.

Officials said 201 people had died in the last 24 hours, taking the official death toll to 22,257. Russia's record daily rise before Friday was 11,656 cases on May 11.
