Kauvery Hospitals Achieves Surgical Milestone with Three Hand Replantations

Trichy, 16th July 2024 - Kauvery Hospitals, Trichy, have marked a significant achievement by successfully conducting three consecutive hand replantations within one month. The patients, all of whom had suffered severe trauma, are currently undergoing rehabilitation and are expected to fully recover.

These replantations represent the pinnacle of microvascular surgery, demanding the repair of bones, tendons, nerves, and blood vessels. The hospital recently upgraded its infrastructure with the new Zeiss Tivato microscope, known for its precision in supermicrosurgical procedures.

The surgeries were led by Dr. S. Skanda, Senior Consultant and Head of Plastic Surgery, along with his expert team. The anesthesia team was headed by Dr. K. Senthil Kumar. In conjunction with these procedures, Kauvery Trichy has also inaugurated two new services: the Kauvery Lymphedema Clinic and the Regional Replant Centre, to provide comprehensive treatment options and raise public awareness.
