Bengaluru's Regal Hospital Pioneers First Rezum Therapy in Karnataka
Regal Hospital in Bengaluru, led by Dr. Suriraju V, has successfully carried out Karnataka's first Rezum therapy for BPH. This minimally invasive procedure offers a promising alternative for men suffering from BPH, allowing quicker recovery and fewer side effects compared to traditional treatments.
Regal Hospital in Bengaluru, under the guidance of Dr. Suriraju V, has made medical history by performing Karnataka's first Rezum therapy for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). This minimally invasive procedure offers a new and promising option for men suffering from this common condition.
BPH is a prevalent issue affecting nearly 50% of men over 60 and up to 90% of men by age 85. A 68-year-old Bengaluru resident, Mr. Patel, had been experiencing severe symptoms but was hesitant about traditional treatments. Dr. Suriraju recommended Rezum, which uses water vapor to shrink prostate tissue.
The 10-minute procedure, performed under local anesthesia, allowed Patel to return home the same day. Unlike traditional methods, Rezum does not require ongoing medication. Dr. Suriraju emphasized its suitability for younger BPH patients and those unfit for anesthetics.
