In an unexpected turn of events, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has called for an inquiry into the premature departure of a mosquito terminator train on Friday. The event, held at the New Delhi railway station, was disrupted as the train left before the scheduled flag-off by Mayor Oberoi, Deputy Mayor Aaley Mohammed Iqbal, and Leader of the House Mukesh Goyel.
Mayor Oberoi has instructed MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar to investigate the lack of coordination that led to the train’s early departure and submit a detailed report at the earliest. This marks the first time such an incident has occurred during the city’s annual anti-larval measures.
Every year, the MCD, in collaboration with Indian Railways, dispatches the mosquito terminator train to curb mosquito breeding along railway tracks during the monsoon season. The Mayor emphasized the need for improved communication between the Public Health Department and Northern Railways to ensure successful execution of this vital initiative.
