A Dalit nurse was allegedly held hostage and raped by a doctor inside a private hospital, police reported on Monday. The incident reportedly occurred around midnight on Sunday, as stated in the complaint filed by the victim's father.
Police Superintendent Sandeep Kumar Meena disclosed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The victim, a 20-year-old nurse, went to the hospital for her scheduled duty at 7 PM on Saturday. Having been an employee for seven months, she was asked late at night by another nurse, Mehnaz, to see Dr. Shahnawaz in his room.
Upon her refusal, Mehnaz and a ward boy named Junaid allegedly forced her into a room on the hospital's top floor and locked it from the outside. Dr. Shahnawaz later entered the room and assaulted her, also reportedly threatening her life and making casteist remarks. Following the arrest of the accused, the hospital has been sealed as part of an ongoing investigation.
