A tragic incident occurred in Bihar's Nalanda district where a girl lost her life and nine students were hospitalized after allegedly drinking contaminated water, an official stated on Tuesday.
According to the Nalanda district administration, the deceased girl was not a student but was visiting her friends at Kasturba Gandhi Girls School. District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar reported that some students experienced vomiting and stomach ache after consuming water from an RO system installed on the school premises. They were promptly taken to a nearby government hospital. Unfortunately, the visiting girl passed away during treatment, while nine students are currently recovering.
Initial investigations suggest that the students fell ill due to poorly maintained RO water. Samples have been sent for scientific analysis. An FIR has been filed against the school warden, who faces suspension and departmental action for negligence of duty. Additionally, police have sent viscera samples of the deceased for chemical examination.
