The Delhi government has unveiled a substantial Rs 12,893 crore allocation for the health sector in its 2025-26 budget. This initiative aims to reinforce Delhi's healthcare infrastructure, supporting schemes such as Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, introducing two new medical colleges, and dramatically increasing hospital bed capacity.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to transforming healthcare in the capital. She highlighted efforts to enhance critical care services, expand primary healthcare, and modernize medical infrastructure to ensure no citizen is left without access to quality healthcare.
The budget also sets aside funds for the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and Health and Wellness Centres. Priorities include addressing the shortage of hospital beds by completing pending projects and encouraging alternative medicine through the Delhi State AYUSH Society.
