Swift Health Response to Punjab's Rising Waters

As floodwaters from the Beas and Sutlej rivers inundate Punjab villages, Health Minister Balbir Singh has mobilized 438 rapid response teams, 323 mobile medical teams, and 172 ambulances. Efforts include boat ambulances and health camps, and the state is well-prepared with resources to handle emerging health crises.

With water levels rising in the Beas and Sutlej rivers, Punjab faces a severe flood situation affecting multiple villages. Health Minister Balbir Singh reported the deployment of 438 rapid response teams, 323 mobile medical teams, and 172 ambulances to ensure immediate medical assistance.

Efforts have been concentrated on rescuing stranded individuals, with boat ambulances playing a key role. Eight pregnant women were rescued, and one safely delivered a child. Health camps in Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur are already treating patients suffering from water-borne diseases.

The state remains vigilant in combating potential epidemics, ensuring hospital beds are available and medicines stocked. Districts are working in tandem with disaster response forces, the military, and NGOs to address the ongoing crisis efficiently.
