The India-Australia roundtable on strengthening the nursing workforce wrapped up in New Delhi on Tuesday, representing a key milestone in bilateral efforts to bolster nursing education and leadership.
The event was a collaboration among the Union Health Ministry, Jhpiego, and Australia's Edith Cowan University. Akanksha Ranjan, Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, stressed India's commitment to revolutionizing the nursing sector.
Ranjan cited the approval of 157 new nursing colleges and the enactment of the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Act 2023 as pivotal moves toward transforming nursing through comprehensive education and regulatory reforms.
