In a tragic incident, a two-year-old boy named Shafej from Chak Govardhan village in Bijnor district lost his life after a toffee became lodged in his windpipe, health officials reported on Sunday.

According to Dr. Ashish Kumar Arya, the in-charge at Nehatour Community Health Centre, the child was brought to the facility on Saturday evening but was declared dead upon arrival. The toffee blockage led to suffocation, a stark reminder of the dangers posed by small consumables to young children.

In light of the incident, Dr. Arya advised caution against giving young children items such as toffees, peanuts, or grapes, due to severe choking risks. The child's father, Shamshad, expressed deep sorrow, noting that although Shafej frequently consumed toffees, this unfortunate incident resulted in a life-threatening obstruction.
