Doctors in Ahmedabad made a remarkable medical save when they extracted an entire plastic toy from a toddler's stomach, preventing potential intestinal damage. The operation took place at the Civil Hospital, where Dr. Rakesh Joshi led the team in removing the toy through a delicate upper GI endoscopy procedure.
The child, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, arrived at the hospital after his mother noticed he was vomiting and found a toy missing. An X-ray revealed the presence of the 'Hulk' toy lodged in the child's stomach, alarming the medical staff.
The extraction was challenging due to the toy's shape and size, but the doctors managed to remove it without causing harm to the child's digestive tract. The procedure, conducted swiftly on January 19, ensured the toddler's complete recovery, underscoring the importance of timely intervention in such cases.
