Delhi Celebrates Decline in Vector-Borne Diseases as Dengue Cases Drop

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) reports a noteworthy decline in vector-borne diseases for January 2026 in Delhi. With only 19 dengue cases recorded, this is the lowest since 2023. Malaria and Chikungunya show similar improvements, highlighting effective preventive measures by the MCD's Anti-Malaria Operations wing.

In a significant health development, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced the lowest number of dengue cases in the capital for the first month of the year since 2023. Only 19 cases were reported this January, marking a commendable decline from the previous years.

The downward trend in vector-borne diseases extends beyond dengue, with malaria cases dropping to three in January 2026, compared to nine the previous year. Impressively, no Chikungunya cases have surfaced so far this year, according to data released by the MCD's Anti-Malaria Operations wing.

The report outlines efforts made to control mosquito breeding, including over 25 lakh household inspections and legal action in cases of negligence. Such proactive measures by MCD have significantly contributed to the reduced incidence of these diseases.
