Rwanda is taking some serious steps to ensure the citizens have better medical facilities and treatments. A few days back the officials of Oshen King Faisal Hospital declared that around 16 patients were about to undergo cardiac surgery by a team of US medical doctors dubbed Team Heart. Now the patients will be able to access doctors from Oshen King Faisal Hospital for medical advice and appointment requests while at their homes with the introduction of a new mobile app.

A new app, dubbed AmakuruDoctor has been prepared to facilitate patients to virtually interact with the doctors 24/7. Developed by a Spanish digital tech company named Sphera Global Healthcare, the application is already made available and can be downloaded through Google Play Store.

According to The New Times, patients can also access video consultation, symptom checker, talk to doctor 24/7, achieve medical advice (including second opinion) before physically being present at the hospital.

"The hospital wants to be closer to patients so they can receive our services any time and wherever they are. We can give them proper medical advice so they don't go to ask such advice to their friends or go to the internet for it," Andrea Malet, the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Oshen King Faisal Hospital said.

According to Andrea Malet, the introduction of new app will further reduce unnecessary travels to the hospital, immediate remedies to the persons and ease the doctors' ability to follow up on patient recovery. Even the app is a handy tool for patients who would like to check if the medicine prescribed to them is correct.

"From next week, any BK General Insurance employee and their families can meet the doctor through the app 24/7. We will continue to open it up to more companies in the future so more people can use it," Malet further said.
