The Maharashtra Chief Minister's Relief Fund has emerged as a lifeline for patients, providing Rs 333 crore in financial assistance to over 40,000 patients last year, the state government announced on Friday.
By establishing district-level cells and implementing paperless applications, the fund's processes have become more transparent and efficient, significantly accelerating the distribution of aid. This timely financial help has reached patients with severe medical conditions who do not qualify for benefits under other health schemes.
Key reforms have facilitated support for treatments of serious ailments like cochlear implants and organ transplants. Moreover, a new partnership with BPCL Foundation and Tata Memorial Centre aims to alleviate the burden of pediatric cancer treatments through corporate social responsibility initiatives. Patients in the Mumbai suburban district alone received Rs 8.10 crore in aid, highlighting the fund's impact.
