Contaminated Tank Causes Illness in Housing Society

More than a dozen residents of Krishna Lok Housing Society fell ill on Wednesday with diarrhoea after drinking contaminated water from an overhead tank, authorities reported.

The incident took place near the Delhi-Agra highway, opposite Jait police station. Chief Medical Officer Dr Radha Vallabh revealed that residents experienced stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea, prompting immediate intervention by a medical team from a local community health centre.

A district team of epidemiology experts later assessed the situation, distributing medicines to affected individuals. Initial investigations suggested that irregular cleaning of the water tank by society management caused the contamination, with health officials discovering bird droppings, monkey waste, and insects inside the tank. Fortunately, the condition of affected residents, including children and the elderly, has improved, and the situation is now under control.
