A new Jaipur Foot Prosthetics Centre has been inaugurated in Trinidad and Tobago. The center, aimed at aiding below-knee amputees, was opened by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar alongside Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamala Persad-Bissessar on May 9. It marks a significant step for differently-abled persons in the Caribbean.
The center was established by Jaipur Foot USA, the United States branch of BMVSS, which will provide 600 artificial limbs to foster its operation. Additionally, an expert from Jaipur has been deployed to train local technicians, ensuring the long-term impact of the center.
This development follows the success of a previous Jaipur foot camp held in Port of Spain last year, benefitting over 800 individuals. The permanent center is expected to bring mobility, dignity, and hope to many more across the Caribbean region.
