Rising Blood Sugar Concerns in Delhi Revealed by New Survey
According to the latest National Family Health Survey, the percentage of Delhi adults experiencing high blood sugar has increased since 2019. While sugar levels rise, hypertension rates among men and women have declined. This data emerges from the sixth round of the NFHS, conducted during 2023-24.

New data from the National Family Health Survey reveals a worrying rise in high blood sugar levels among adults in Delhi. Between 2019-21 and 2023-24, the percentage of women with elevated blood sugar surged from 12.2% to 19%, while for men, it grew from 14.1% to 22.2%.
Women with blood sugar levels over 160 mg/dl increased significantly, as did men in the same category. Contrarily, the survey found a decrease in hypertension cases, with fewer women and men showing elevated blood pressure compared to previous years.
The comprehensive survey underscores trends in health indicators and is key for planning health policies at the district level. It covers extensive household data across major areas, contributing critical insights into public health trends.
