In a notable development, former US President Barack Obama has expressed serious concerns about President Joe Biden's campaign for re-election. According to the Washington Post, Obama informed his allies that Biden's chances of victory have significantly dwindled, sparking discussions about the viability of his candidacy.

Adding to the chorus, various Democratic sources quoted by the Post have indicated that the polls are increasingly favoring Republican candidate Donald Trump. This sentiment follows appeals from approximately 20 Democratic Party leaders urging Biden, 81, to reconsider his campaign. In alignment, CNN reported that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi conveyed her skepticism about Biden's chances against Trump in private conversations.

Despite these critical stances, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates affirmed Biden's commitment to his re-election campaign, emphasizing his plan to secure victory and advance his 100-day agenda. Meanwhile, senior House Democrat Adam Schiff publicly echoed similar concerns, suggesting a risk of losing not only the presidency but also down-ballot races if Biden continued.

Schiff, in his statement to the Los Angeles Times, intimated though he supports the Democratic ticket, it might be prudent for Biden to “pass the torch.” The Washington Post further reported actor George Clooney's public call for Biden to step down, adding pressure amid Biden’s recent COVID-19 diagnosis and subsequent quarantine.

Despite these setbacks, Biden's campaign, as stated by principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks, is pushing forward, reaffirming Biden's decision to stay the course in the face of adversity.
