Dubai [UAE], July 20 (ANI/WAM): Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, has paid a visit to the 20th Liwa Date Festival, an event running until July 28, 2024, in Al Dhafra Region. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the festival's importance in preserving the historical significance of palm trees, maintaining cultural heritage, and advancing sustainable development and food security.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan toured various pavilions participating in the festival, which is organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority. He was briefed on various heritage activities and competitions designed for date farmers and producers. Sheikh Hamdan commended the organizing team for their efforts and the significant involvement of both public and private sectors in supporting the UAE's intangible heritage.
