Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has publicly disclosed a seven-point agreement with the Nepali Congress amid a parliamentary trust vote. Oli, who also serves as the chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal--Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), read out the agreement, which was reached past midnight on July 2.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the pact represents a cooperative effort between the two largest political parties to address the nation's critical challenges. "We (CPN-UML and Nepali Congress) compete in our ideologies, but there are instances of collaboration between the Congress and the UML. This is a continuation of that collaboration. We have agreed to work together to protect national interests, control corruption, improve governance, expedite development activities, and ensure political stability, in accordance with the public desire," Oli told the lower house.

Details of the agreement, signed by Oli and Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba three weeks ago, were revealed after leaders from Congress and other parties questioned the delay. The seven points include forming a national consensus government, amending the constitution, rejuvenating the economy, securing equal participation in government, and accelerating provincial development.
