Canadian finance minister says he will meet Bessent Tuesday

Canadian Finance ​Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne ​said he ‌would meet ​with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ‌on Tuesday afternoon on the sidelines of a meeting of G20 finance ministers ‌and central bank governors. "You know, we've ‌been partners, allies, friends for generations and generations, and so that will continue. ⁠You ​have moments ⁠like that where you need to be ⁠at the table and say things that ​need to be said," Champagne ⁠said, as the two countries aim to ⁠resolve ​a trade dispute.

Trade talks between the U.S. and Canada ⁠collapsed last month with each side blaming the ⁠other ⁠for derailing three days of intensive negotiations.
