External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be visiting Japan for the Quad Foreign Ministers meeting, set to occur on July 29, according to Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. The meeting aims to take forward the Quad agenda and assess accomplishments so far, Jaiswal revealed during a weekly media briefing.
Jaishwal highlighted the value of Jaishankar's visit, noting that the meeting will follow up on agreements made by Quad leaders and subsequent discussions in Hiroshima and New York. He also mentioned that the discussions will likely include planning the next Quad summit, with India as the host. 'It will be a matter which will be discussed as well,' Jaiswal said.
When queried about Indian representation at the swearing-in of Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian, Jaiswal said details would be finalized soon. The Quad, comprising Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, is dedicated to a stable, inclusive Indo-Pacific. Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell expressed determination from India and the US to hold the Quad summit this year.
