An incident in the Kot-Murtaza area of Tank District, Dera Ismail Khan, saw heavy rainfall lead to the tragic collapse of a house roof, resulting in three fatalities and four injuries, ARY News reported.
The collapse claimed the lives of Asma Bibi, wife of Rehman, their daughter Sadia Bibi, and son Waheed Ullah. Four family members, including Rehman and his sons Naseeb Ullah, Irfan, and Asmat Ullah, sustained injuries.
Rescue 1122 teams swiftly arrived at the scene to retrieve the bodies and administer first aid to the injured before transferring them to the district headquarters hospital in Tank. Heavy torrential rains have plagued Tank District and its suburbs, causing the closure of the Tank-South Waziristan road due to flood-like conditions in streams and Nullahs.
The authorities issued a flood alert, urging all relevant departments, including Rescue 1122, to stay on high alert. The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts continued heavy rainfall in Karachi from August 4 to 7, warning that some areas may receive up to 100mm of rain.
The weather office indicated that Karachi could experience rain showers on Saturday, with expected rainfall between 40mm to 60mm, with some areas possibly breaking records.
